Staying in Inveraray means different things to our visitors. Some enjoy walking the town and its haunting shore, while others want to sample the spirits of our local makers of fine whiskies. You will be happy to know that, when you stay at Brambles, you can have the best of both worlds.
Two of the Country’s Most Popular Sites
If you want to spend a relaxing day near Brambles, we’ve got two world-renowned locations you can visit, and they’re both just up the street.
The George Hotel
The George Hotel is a spectacular example of period architecture, style and design. Originally built in 1770 as two private houses, the site was the first Scottish example of a planned town. It wouldn’t be until 1860 that the houses would be amalgamated, forming the George Hotel we know today. Seven generations of the Clark family have lived and worked at this site, and the family’s 7th generation now owns and resides in the hotel.
This stunning site has undergone meticulous restoration in its bedroom, restaurant and bar areas. In The George’s unique atmosphere, you can take in the original flagstone floor and roaring peat and log fires as you choose from their selection of wines and 100 malt whiskies.
When you’re done there, it’s just a short turnaround back up the street, where you’ll find another warm and cosy spot.
Loch Fyne Whiskies
This shop is one not to be missed if you wish to sample some of the area’s finest whiskies. The staff at Loch Fyne Whiskies is both friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about their craft, and can recommend a range of whiskies suited to your individual preferences. Sample several whiskies before choosing from their wide variety to bring back to Brambles with you.
No trip to Loch Fyne Whiskies is complete without sampling their own blends. Their Living Cask offers limited batches, each with their own flavour. Carefully-chosen malts are used to top up stocks, which are left to blend until the next batch is ready. Their Loch Fyne Blend, Loch Fyne Liqueur and Loch Fyne Bunnahabhain 14 Year Old are all created on site and contain the years of knowledge gained from customers over the last two decades.
The long conversation and interesting surroundings will leave you with warm memories to last you long after you’ve left our idyllic town.
